I am teaching at an academic summer camp. The kids all take two classes and participate in a variety of activities. One of the upcoming ones, I have gathered, is a sort of retro theme night in which you pick a decade and garb yourself appropriately.

This led to the following conversation:

Jackie: It looks like everyone's doing 80s... oh! Want to do Spice Girls?
Molly: Hey, yeah, they were 90s, right?
Leyla: Sounds good!
Molly: Okay, so which one will you be?
Leyla: Posh. I'm always Posh.
Jackie: Yeah, I always get stuck with Baby. It's funny how you always end up as the same one. How about you?
Molly (blinking): I've never dressed as a Spice Girl.

So my class lets out for the day and I head over the river for my tutoring session. My student Ashley asks about the camp and what goes on there and I am sufficiently amused that a couple of my kids apparently have long and distinguished histories dressing as Spice Girls that I recap the above conversation for her.

Ashley replies, "Yeah, that's so true. I've been Baby like six times."

(sound of me slapping my forehead)
