The 9/11 Report
Sid Jacobson and Ernie Colón, 2006

Subject
In 2004, the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States released a report analyzing the 9/11 attacks and suggesting how similar attacks might be prevented in the future. This is a graphical adaptation by the (self-proclaimed) creator of Richie Rich and the artist on Damage Control (see illustration).

Evaluation
Meh. I mean, it's drawn well — the hijackers are all distinguishable and so forth. And at first I was impressed by the way the comic-book layout allowed one to track all four planes simultaneously. But layout soon becomes a problem, as it is often difficult to figure out the sequence of the information on a given page. There were many cases in which I read the panel to the right when I was supposed to read the panel underneath first, or vice versa. Also, the entire project turns out to be mainly just large captions saying, "President Bush said..." accompanied by drawings of Bush at a podium, or "the FBI and CIA didn't work together" accompanied by drawings of random CIA agents sitting around with one of them saying, "The FBI won't give us that information!" Ultimately, there doesn't seem to be much to justify this adaptation's existence.
