From: Toronto, Canada Active: 2006–2014 I first heard them: on Pandora, which kept feeding me “Fatherpunk”, and bless it for doing so Sound: Their early work was right in my wheelhouse: crunchy guitars, compelling pop hooks, superlative songwriting with amazing vocal pyrotechnics. Their first full studio album, Fino + Bleed, was my favorite record for a decade. Then they shifted to what bandleader Care Failure called “evil dance metal”, which was less to my taste, though their last album still contained one song (“Outta Time”) that landed comfortably within the top half the chart. Further listening: Die Mannequin was my favorite band for years, so this list could include most of their discography. Here are some songs lurking not far outside my top 100:
