Sound: they went through many phases, but it seems like any attempt at a description has to prominently feature the word “jangle”

Listening station: R.E.M. is one of the few bands I’ve seen live, but in this case it wasn’t because I was a huge fan⁠—a bunch of people I knew were going and they had extra tickets, so I figured what the hey.
