From:
Queens, New York
Active:
1964–1970
I first noticed them:
when “Scarborough Fair” played over the ending of an
episode of The Wonder Years
Sound:
folk rock
Further listening:
I don’t know Simon & Garfunkel’s full oeuvre,
but I got their best-of CD back in the ’80s and liked it pretty
well at the time.
Here’s my second-favorite of their songs, in the unlikely event
that it isn’t playing on the oldies station in your market right
now.
(A shout-out to Gorgoni & Bushnell & Gregg, the rock
musicians whose overdubs make this song work.)
