In the Mood for Love
Wong Kar-Wai, 2000
#1, 2001 Skandies

Recommended for Colin Marshall and anyone who might like a film whose selling point is (as this post put it) "the sumptuousness of the camerawork, where the threads of Tony Leung's hair, the cracked patterns of an bare wall, or the pink fibrous texture of a steak all exude a hyperdetailed texture." Also a must-see for those interested in looking at a striking array of sleeveless 1960s dresses. Not recommended for Adam Atkinson or anyone who might not care for a film that is the equivalent of those books about, as he once put it, "people almost having an affair for 700 pages." Verdict: Pattern 34.
